Dear NEIHA Members,
On behalf of Synod College, Jaiaw, Shillong, it is my privilege to invite you to the 39th Annual Conference of the North East India History Association to be hosted by Synod College, Jaiaw, Shillong, Meghalaya, from 1st to 3rd November, 2018. The members’ camp will open on the afternoon of 31st October 2018 and will be closed on 4th November 2018 after breakfast.
About the College:
Synod College, Shillong is a Co-educational Institution run by the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi. It was established in the year 1965 (Registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860: No. SR/SC-6/75 of 1975) with affiliation to the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya and re-accredited ‘A’ by NAAC in 2017. Over the years, with the aim of imparting higher education to the youths of the country in general and Meghalaya in particular, it has grown and attained high academic standards, making it one of the well-known Institutions in the region. It offers Bachelors’ Degree courses in Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Application and Master Degree course in Political Science. How to reach Shillong:
Shillong is a popular hill station in northeast India. It is connected by road, air, and railways. While Guwahati railway station is the nearest railway station, the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati is the nearest International Airport connecting Shillong with the rest of India. Besides, Shillong has its own Airport which is 27 Kms away from the city. Shillong can be reached from Guwahati by tourist taxis both from the International Airport as well as from the railway station and the distance is around 110 Kms. Participants from other parts of North East India can also reach Shillong by Tourist buses.
The college is located in Jaiaw which is 2 km from the Tourist Taxi Stand, Police Bazaar, Shillong. Public transport is easily available for commuting from the Stand to the College.
The mid of October is the onset of winter season in Shillong. Hence, the participants are requested to carry woolen clothing and light blanket for their use.
All members are requested not to bring their families as we are not in a position to accommodate them. Accommodation will only be arranged for those members who inform the undersigned by 16th October 2018, through email and the same will be confirmed subsequently.
The Registration fee for all members shall be in two categories.
With accommodation : Rs. 700/- (Seven hundred)
Without accommodation : Rs. 400/- (Four hundred)
