From the Principal’s desk . . .

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, Parents, Alumni, Benefactors and Well Wishers, I take this opportunity to greet you, on behalf of Synod College, Shillong! Synod College, Shillong, is a co-educational institution managed and run by the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi. It was established in the year 1965 (Registered Under the Societies Registration Act of 1860: No. SR/SC-6/75 of 1975 and was included under 2f and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission Act of 1956 since 1976) with a vision to spread education and impart knowledge to the students of the state and the region. The motto of the college, "Ever Higher! Ever Brighter!" is a constant reminder that we have to keep conquering new heights, overcome challenges and deliver the best academic as well as holistic experience for each and every student that flocks to the college, in pursuit of their dream of success and excellence. The college is affiliated to North Eastern Hill University and offers undergraduate programme in Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Application. it also offers Post Graduate Programme in Political Science and Education. During six decades of its existence, the college has been a nurturing and training ground for students hailing from different part of the state and the region, endeavoring to create opportunities for each and every student that enters its door. The year 2024 -25 marks a new phase in the college’s journey as we transition from the old education policy into the NEP 2020. With its inter-and-multi-disciplinary approach, the challenges accompanying this change are gigantic, but simultaneously, it also offers tremendous avenues for students to learn new things and align themselves with emerging global trends in education and job-oriented skills. The buzz word of the new policy is to empower students to be economically independent, self-reliant, socially minded, creative and responsible citizens of the planet. We are confident that the college will continue to play a vital role in realizing these objectives as we strive to be relevant in the current context. Above all, we strive for excellence in the shaping of students’ character, moral growth, and spiritual development, realizing that these are key factors contributing to sound and healthy individuals, who will, in turn, build strong and viable communities. May we as a college, always stand on the principles of ‘Truth and Grace’ embodied in the person of Christ upon whom this institution was founded and established. God bless us all! God bless Synod College, today and always!
